Assistant Professor, Architecture
Christina Chi Zhang is an architectural designer, researcher, and educator working at the intersection of memory, healing, and justice in the built environment. Through public installations, participatory design, community-led construction, and interdisciplinary collaborations, her work explores how architecture can hold stories, promote justice, and repair fractured landscapes. Her projects have ranged from a refugee-led school in Kenya to post-conflict memory-making in Bosnia and Rwanda and community mapping of disability experiences in Pennsylvania.
Christina is also a faculty lead on Designing Inclusive Cities, a community-engaged research project supported through the Small Cities Lab that examines the social connections, access needs, and wellbeing of disabled residents in Bethlehem. As part of the interdisciplinary research team, she helps lead the project’s use of participatory mapping, spatial research, and design to translate residents’ experiences into recommendations and interventions for a more inclusive city.
